Annual Events

Good Friday Band and Buffet- Held on Good Friday. Members of the Cressbrook Band play on Friday Rock which rises to the east of the village above Cressbrook Dale (weather permitting). This is followed by a buffet lunch at The Cressbrook. Visitors welcome.

Well Dressing - Cressbrook, like many other villages in Derbyshire, has an annual well dressing. Clay is put onto boards and then a variety of natural materials are used to create a picture, often on a topical theme. The wells are created in the first week of June. There are usually three wells in Cressbrook, the village well, the children's well and the Hall well. The first 2 are usually constructed in the garage of Trinity House. Visitors are always welcome to help out or just to watch the process. The wells are blessed on the second Sunday in June. This heralds the beginning of;


Gala Week - Commences on the second Sunday in June. Visitors welcome at all events.

Sunday- Gala day. The road through the village is closed, the Band marches through the village and the Wells are blessed. There are stalls, The Cressbrook bar is open, the Cressbrook Band play and tea, coffee and homemade cakes are served in The Cressbrook.

Monday- Fish and chips and bingo at The Cressbrook

Wednesday- The Cressbrook Pageant. The road is closed and the villagers perform a promenade play for villagers and visitors alike.

Friday- There is always a fun event held on the Friday of gala week at The Cressbrook. This year we had 'Who wants to be the weakest deal?'

Saturday- The Grand Finale consisting of live music at the Cressbrook and a torchlight procession through the top of the village with dancing accompanied by Cressbrook Band.


Produce Show - Held at The Cressbrook August Bank Holiday Saturday. Come and put your growing skills against your neighbours. You can also make some jam, bake a cake or produce an item of arts or crafts. There are also categories for the kids so they can join in as well. The show is followed in the evening by a produce auction. Visitors welcome.


Carols on the Green- Held on Christmas Eve. Cressbrook Band play carols on the green by the Christmas tree and the villagers sing. (Held in the Cressbrook if the weather is inclement.


Carols in the village- Held on Christmas Day. Members of Cressbrook Band process through the village playing carols and stopping for refreshments along the way.


Race Night - Held at the Cressbrook on Boxing Night. All the fun of the race track is created using 6 wooden horses some bingo balls and a very enthusiastic commentator! Visitors welcome


New Year Party - Held at The Cressbrook Erm....News Year's Eve. Always a good do. Visitors welcome.
